Kendra Steiner Editions has published 210+ poetry chapbooks and experimental music cdr’s in our 6+ years of existence. A number of the more recent releases are still available, and we issue new items each month. Chapbooks and the “Red Canopy” mini-CDR are $5 each, postpaid anywhere. Full-size CDR’s are $8 ppd.

It might be helpful for you to also shoot me an e-mail telling me you’ve sent funds and what books you want…or if you prefer, tell me what books/cdr’s you want, and I’ll send you a paypal invoice. Established customers who have paid by check in the past and wish to continue that form of payment may continue to pay by check…contact me by private e-mail and we’ll work it out.
Once our chapbooks and CDR’s sell out, they are out of print. Some older KSE chaps can still be found at Volcanic Tongue in Glasgow, Scotland (www.volcanictongue.co.uk) and also at Bob Arnold’s Longhouse Poetry in Vermont (www.longhousepoetry.com) . However, you’ll pay $10 or more for each chap through those collector-oriented sources, so buy directly from KSE when the books/cdr’s are still new and save. CDR’s are not available through regular distribution channels: many are stocked initially by Volcanic Tongue and a small quantity may pop up at Feeding Tube Records now and then, but otherwise, we choose NOT to use the usual “alternative” distributors, most of whom are not much better than the old sharks of the 70′s/80′s indie scene. So if you see something you like, be sure to pick it up ASAP. Ordering more than one item at a time also makes us happy as it lowers the cost of postage and paypal fees.

BILL SHUTE, TWELVE GATES TO THE CITY: THE LABOURS OF HERCULES IN THE LONE STAR STATE (2005)
I just found in the depths of my garage a small box of 20 original 2005 copies of my first book-length poetry work, TWELVE GATES TO THE CITY: THE LABOURS OF HERCULES IN THE LONE STAR STATE, published by Word Mechanics of Palm Springs, California. Both the heavy-stock cover and text pages were made on 250-year-old letterpress equipment in Wisconsin. It was an edition of 300 back then, and I sold 150+ of them at readings in Texas and the rest by mail order (and it was a popular item at Volcanic Tongue in ’06 and signaled David Keenan’s “rediscovery” of me). I thought they were all gone, so grab one now while you can. It’s a 32 page book, a 12-poem suite of a fictional journey across Texas (starting in Las Cruces, NM and finishing in Lake Charles, LA), featuring a re-imagined Hercules for the present world. I was using a fairly strict stanza form for this sequence and it’s quite different from what I’m doing today, yet in many ways it has the basic essence of my poetry in its earlier form, so if you have not read it, you may find it very interesting. It’s a somewhat spiritually oriented work, and I don’t know of any other place where you can read post-modern poems dedicated to and set in towns such as Junction, Ozona, Seguin, and Fort Stockton, Texas.
